Weatherization (Retrofit) Installer
Weatherization (Retrofit) Installer training provides the groundwork for new/existing weatherization workers who would like to increase their knowledge of the weatherization and energy conservation field. Topics covered include “Introduction to Weatherization”, “Safe Work Practices”, “At the Job Site”, and much more. The curriculum for this course is aligned with the NREL Job Task Analyses (JTAs) and can be located (http://www1.eere.energy.gov/wip/pdfs/51671.pdf). Students will be evaluated during this course by the instructor through observation, hands on lab exercises and classroom participation. Retrofit Installer course participants are given verbal quizzes and evaluated during the hands on lab portion of the training as well as a field evaluation during OJT (on-the-job training). This is a 32 hour session taught over 4 days.

Crew (Lead) Chief
Crew Chief (Leader) training will provide the groundwork for new/existing weatherization workers interested in understanding and expanding their knowledge of weatherization. Topics covered in this course include “Role of the Crew Leader”, “Safe Work Practices”, “Maintaining Quality Control”, and much more. The curriculum for this course is aligned with the NREL Job Task Analyses (JTAs) and can be located (http://www1.eere.energy.gov/wip/pdfs/51673.pdf).  This training session is primarily in class with additional technical training in advanced blower door diagnostics, a review of current installation methodologies and combustion safety instruction. Students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training in order to receive a certificate of completion. This is a 32 hour session taught over 4 days.

Quality Control Inspector
Quality Control Inspector training will provide the groundwork for new/existing weatherization workers to expand their knowledge of weatherization. The training will help individuals understand how a QC ensures completion of work performed according to specifications and standards, perform safety and diagnostic tests, record and report findings, and how to deal with corrective actions based upon the building audit. The curriculum for this course is aligned with the NREL Job Task Analyses (JTAs) and can be located at (http://www1.eere.energy.gov/wip/pdfs/51670.pdf)  This training is primarily done in the classroom, and with hands-on activities in the lab conducting diagnostic testing with IR infrared thermo imaging devices. Students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training in order to receive a certificate of completion. This is a 40 hour session taught over 5 days.

Duct Sealing & Insulation
Duct Sealing & Insulation training will provide current Crew Leaders the knowledge needed to be a certified Duct Sealer & Insulator within the MassSave Program. Participants will learn MassSave Program rules for evaluating duct system eligibility and steps to successfully seal and re-insulate these systems. The use of True Flow plates or a heat rise test to measure system airflow will be taught. A hands-on component will cover best practices for insulating ducts including but not limited to the correct location of field joints, removal of duct insulation, selecting duct sealing, applying duct sealing materials and replacing existing duct insulation. This is an 8 hour session.

OSHA 10
OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide entry-level construction workers general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site. This course is designed for construction workers as an ideal orientation to those who are new to the industry and as a reminder those who have been working in the industry to the hazards associated with their work. We add one hour per day for breaks and lunch. Upon successful completion, students will receive an OSHA 10 Hour Construction Outreach DOL course completion card within 4-8 weeks. This is a 10 hour session taught over 2 days.

OSHA 30
The OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry. Specifically devised for safety directors, foremen, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues. We add one hour each day for breaks and lunch. Upon successful completion, students will receive an OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach DOL course completion card within 4-8 weeks. This is a 30 hour session taught over 4 days.

OSHA Confined Spaces
This OSHA Confined Spaces training is a comprehensive safety program designed for weatherization workers interested in understanding and expanding their knowledge of the new OSHA standard for Confined Spaces (29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA)-any space that meets the following three criteria: is large enough for a worker to enter it; has limited means of entry or exit; and is not designed for continuous occupancy. Specifically devised for safety directors, foremen, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues. This is a 5 hour session.
BPI (2.5 CEUs); CSL (Workplace Safety 5 hours)
$195 per person (class limit 40)

RRP Lead Renovator (Renovate, Repair, Paint)
RRP Lead Renovator training was developed by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has been delegated to various states, including Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training in order to receive a RRP Lead Renovator certification. There is a maximum of 20 individuals per session. This is an 8 hour session.

RRP Refresher
This MA Lead Safe Renovator Refresher course meets the State of MA 454 CMR 22.00 to re-certify those individuals who have been initially trained in the Lead Safe Contractor – Supervisor and hold a current Supervisor Certification. A written test must be successfully completed in order to receive the refresher certification. There is no state imposed maximum of individuals per session. A 30 person class capacity is recommended in order to provide solid training. This is a 4 hour session.

Lead Safe Weatherization
This lesson provides an overview of the EPA Rules as they affect the DOE Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). The focus of this lesson is to provide refresher training for those that have already taken the LSW Benchmark Curriculum Training (Issued with WPN 09-6, January 7, 2009) or the EPA RRP Certified Renovator Course. This is a 4 hour session.

Combustion Safety Training
This Combustion Safety training will provide staff with the skills necessary to properly identify and inspect combustion appliances such as furnaces, space heaters, and water heaters that present potential health and safety hazards and should be inspected to ensure safe operation. Students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training in order to receive a certificate of completion. This is a 4 hour session.

ASHRAE 62.2
ASHRAE 62.2 training addresses the details of the national ventilation standard, including local ventilation, whole building ventilation, and practical installation methods. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Building Performance Institute (BPI) require the use of the ventilation standard, ASHRAE 62.2-2010, Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Low-Rise Residential Buildings. Ventilation design examples and other details of the ASHRAE 62.2010 standard will be discussed, including fan control, noise level, measuring fan flow, ducting, and more. Students will be required to complete an in class exercise and pass a quiz in order to receive a certificate of completion. This is a 6 hour session.

Advanced Blower Door & Pressure Diagnostics
In this Advanced Blower Door & Pressure Diagnostics training an individual will visually learn the basics of pressure and its effect on home performance. Blower door and pressure diagnostics will be demonstrated on a portable and full scale model house. This introductory session is appropriate for those who have either a technical or non-technical background. Students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training in order to receive a certificate of completion. There is a maximum of 12 individuals per session. This is a 4 hour session.
