As the first step toward earning your BA-T and BA-P, BSP provides a foundation in Building Science. You’ll learn how applying science to residential building practices has transformed how we build to improve occupant health, building structural integrity, comfort, and saving energy.

You’ll learn how the many components of a home interact as we explore how the building is affected by heat transfer, air flow, and moisture transport.
Building Analyst - Technician

In this course, you’ll apply your knowledge of building science principles to conduct comprehensive energy audits of single-family homes. Training includes data collection, combustion safety, HVAC systems, blower door diagnostics, indoor air quality and baseload assessment. This certificate satisfies most utility-funded weatherization programs.​

Building Analyst - Professional
Length: 5 Days, 35 hours
Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Class limit: 12

Prerequisites: BA-T Certification

In this course you’ll complete Building Analyst training by learning how to manage the information you collected from the site visit to develop a comprehensive Energy Audit Report with a list of prioritized home performance recommendations. This includes compiling and analyzing all the appropriate building components and system efficiencies in an energy savings model.

Energy Auditor & Exam Prep
Length: 5 Days, 35 hours
Experience Level: Advanced (time in field requirements apply - see BPI link below)

Prerequisites: BPI Prerequisites, BPI Approval Letter

The course will provide experienced weatherization workers with knowledge and skills to advance in their careers, and to prepare them for the BPI Energy Auditor Exam. This course is designed for someone who has extensive field experience and is looking to further their Energy Auditor credentials.
Quality Control Inspector
Length: 4 hours
Experience Level: Advanced
Class limit: 9

Quality Control Inspector training will provide weatherization workers with expanded knowledge of weatherization. The training will help individuals understand how:
