This training is for weatherization workers interested in understanding and expanding their knowledge of air sealing techniques. Topics covered in this course include “Top 10 Air Sealing Spots”, “Intermediate Air Sealing”, “Air Sealing a Chimney”, and much more. The curriculum for this course is aligned with NREL Job Task Analyses (JTAs). This training session is primarily in the lab with hands-on technical training and review of current installation methodologies. Students will be required to pass a hands-on skills assessment in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Duct Sealing and Insulation training will provide current Crew Leaders the knowledge needed to be a certified Duct Sealer & Insulator within the MassSave® Program. Participants will learn MassSave® program rules for evaluating duct system eligibility and steps to successfully seal and re-insulate these systems. The use of True Flow plates or a heat rise test to measure system airflow will be taught. A hands-on component will cover best practices for insulating ducts including but not limited to the correct location of field joints, removal of duct insulation, selecting duct sealing, applying duct sealing materials and replacing existing duct insulation.
